SLAM! (contemporary forms) with Victor Rottier:

SLAM! is a highly physical, movement oriented dance workshop.
The focus lies on the development of basics, forming a foundation to the translation of foreign material. I aim to challenge you, the space and the group.
We play with movement on irregular counts, spacial awareness, isolations, musicality and the distribution of power within all of these aspects.
I push for clarity and dedication from my side to the group as I expect the same from the dancers.
Every day we go through a warm up that focuses on all the parts of the body, all to prepare the body for absorbing impact and movement. In this section I use improvisation as well a set material.
Throughout the workshop days we will go through exercises that for a base for the phrases. We will focus on acrobatics, floor work, standing work, isolations, musicality and sheer stamina.
We will swipe through the floor, get up and own the space, sweat and trample on boundaries in this playground.
And if that’s not enough for ya, all music is handpicked and 100% organic!

*Victor Rottier is dancer, teacher, choreographer.
Rehearsal director for Johannes Wieland, Staatstheater Kassel.

Gaga / dancers with Natalia Iwaniec:

Gaga/dancers classes are open to professional dancers or advanced dance students aged 16+. These classes last for an hour and fifteen minutes and are taught by dancers who have worked closely with Ohad Naharin. Gaga/dancers classes are built on the same principles as Gaga/people classes but also employ the specific vocabulary and skills that are part and parcel of a dancer’s knowledge. The layering of familiar movements with Gaga tasks presents dancers with fresh challenges, and throughout the class teachers prompt the dancers to visit more unfamiliar places and ways of moving as well. Gaga/dancers deepens dancers’ awareness of physical sensations, expands their palette of available movement options, enhances their ability to modulate their energy and engage their explosive power, also enriches their movement quality with a wide range of textures.

More about Natalia Iwaniec: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoT3RK62paw

Gaga is the movement language developed by Ohad Naharin throughout many years, parallel to his work as a choreographer and the artistic director of Batsheva Dance Company. Gaga originated from Naharin’s need to communicate with his dancers and his curiosity in the ongoing research of movement.

Gaga classes are predicated on a deep listening to the body and to physical sensations. The instructions are deployed to increase awareness of and further amplify sensation, and rather than turning from one prompt to another, information is layered, building into a multi-sensory, physically challenging experience. While many instructions are imbued with rich imagery, the research of Gaga is fundamentally physical, insisting on a specific process of embodiment. Inside this shared research, the improvisational nature of the exploration enables each participant’s deeply personal connection with Gaga.
Gaga provides a framework for discovering and strengthening the body and adding flexibility, stamina, agility, and skills including coordination and efficiency while stimulating the senses and imagination. The classes offer a workout that investigates form, speed, and effort while traversing additional spectrums such as those between soft and thick textures, delicacy and explosive power, and understatement and exaggeration.
Participants awaken numb areas, increase their awareness of habits, and improve their efficiency of movement inside multilayered tasks, and they are encouraged to connect to pleasure inside moments of effort. The language of Gaga is in a continual process of evolution, and the classes vary and develop accordingly.
Gaga has two tracks: Gaga/people and Gaga/dancers.

“We become more aware of our form. We connect to the sense of the endlessness of possibilities. We explore multi-dimensional movement; we enjoy the burning sensation in our muscles, we are ready to snap, we are aware of our explosive power and sometimes we use it. We change our movement habits by finding new ones. We go beyond our familiar limits. We can be calm and alert at once.” – Ohad Naharin

URBAN meets CONTEMPORARY with Low Air dancers/teachers:

To look for the meaning of Low Air, one has to search somewhere between the constant paradox (as if the Air could ever be Low) and the ever-existing thirst for experiencing and under-standing reality (as if there is never enough of Air). The first reference point is forcing us to live through the discrepancies, question the norms and ways of thinking; the second one insists on always feeling the urge to create, it ignites the constant search for meaning and at the same time it is a reminder that we all are merely small pieces of the never-ending quest for creativity.

Workshops led by Low Air are based on their more that 10 years experience as choreographers and dancers. The classes are designed to practice the different ways of gaining flow. The flow that comes from urban styles based dance techniques and flow which can be found learning contemporary techniques. Creative exercises and tasks help to develop own personal movement, practice interesting breaking transitions and intelligent house and jazz footwork. The conceptual way of thinking leads us to the new forms of dance.
